Choose the change that will make the biggest difference

You may know exactly what needs replacing, or simply feel that the garden is difficult to use. Start with the problem: a cramped seating area, a tired boundary, a muddy route or a home that no longer provides enough practical space. GB brings landscaping and building services into the same discussion, helping you consider how one improvement affects the next. A new patio may work better with a revised path; a garden building needs a sensible approach as well as an attractive finish.

A useful balance of appearance and everyday practicality

The visible materials are only part of a successful improvement. Levels, access, preparation and the connection with existing features all influence the result. Think about how you move through the property, what you want to retain and how much upkeep you are comfortable with. Our service guides explain the choices in more detail, while the gallery lets you look closely at completed garden and building work before shaping your own brief.

Starting your project

A useful first conversation

Understand the scope, information and decisions that help turn an initial idea into a defined project.

Ask about your project ↗
Can I start with one improvement rather than a complete garden makeover?

Yes. The service range includes individual patios, fences, decks and building improvements as well as wider garden work. Describe the particular difficulty you want to solve and what should stay. A focused project still needs its boundaries defined: replacing a surface, for example, may involve its edges, access or adjoining levels. The quotation discussion establishes whether that limited scope will achieve the result you want.

Do I need finished plans before speaking to GB?

No. For an initial conversation, explain how you want to use the space and send photographs showing the existing arrangement. Sketches and rough measurements are helpful if you have them. Some proposals will need drawings, approvals or specialist design before construction can be quoted fully; identify those requirements before committing to work. An early discussion is a starting point, rather than an assumption that every idea is ready to build.

What does a free, no-obligation quotation cover?

The aim is to set out a proposed scope and price once there is enough information about the work. Ask which preparation, materials, removal and finishing tasks are included, and which decisions or allowances remain open. Receiving the quotation does not commit you to accepting it. Where separate design or specialist investigation is needed, establish its responsibility and any cost before commissioning it.
